Awesome Muck dive, re- discovered.

Thorny Seahorse

A couple of weeks ago, we organized a staff dive to one of Lombok‘s muck dive sites, to evaluate the quality of the dive site.

After spotting several species of: ringed pipe fish, lion fish, shrimp, nudibranchs, scorpion fish, … We were happy to discover the dive site had some big potential for qualitative muck dives.

Nothing is more fun, than the “underwater treasure hunt” for the oceans’ most unusual, exotic and juvenile organisms that make their homes in the sediment and “trash” that composes a muck dive.

Blue- ringed octopus, sea horses, ghost pipe fish,… The underwater photographers will be pleased!

The most tricky part, is spotting these kings of camouflage! Which is where Dedi comes in! Indonesia‘s eagle eyes! He’s been diving around the Gili’s for over 20 year! He sees everything!

He spotted an ornate ghost pipe fish hovering over a feather star. Seahorses hiding under sea grass. Robust ghost pipe fish imitating algae.

Even for Blue Marlins’ Instructors, this muck dive is a dive, they don’t want to miss!

Help us identify these creatures! Visualize  our instructors’ best shots on our page!
